“luxurious, contemporary accommodation in a classic lakeland building”
Keswick Holiday Homes

Keswick Holiday Homes offer self catering accommodation in Keswick, Cumbria. We often book their dog-friendly apartment ‘Riverside View’. You can check out our previous blog post of Riverside view under the Lake District section of our website. On this occasion we were invited along to stay in Brandelhow for a weekend getaway in February.
Brandelhowe is a ground floor luxury, two bedroom apartment, tucked away in the quiet village of Portinscale (just a 15 minute walk from the centre of Keswick). You access the apartment from the street, straight into the open plan living area. This area has wood flooring and there are handy coat hooks and a mud tray for muddy boots.

Undoubtedly, Brandelhowe is refurbished to the highest of standard and mixes contemporary and traditional living perfectly. The living room features traditional panelled walls, large modern sofa along with a huge rug, which certainly adds comfort. The original range with logs (although just for show) adds to that classic, country feel. Throws are provided and we enjoyed curling up with the spaniels, under the ambient lighting sipping our prosecco and watching the smart TV.

The star of the show and my favourite feature of the living room was the delightful window seat. Bobby would lay across my lap watching the people on their walks.

The elegant style continues into the kitchen/dining area where you’ll find a modern kitchen with all the appliances you need for a self catering holiday. Fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, oven, hob and a range of cooking utensils. In addition, you’ll find a tray filled with complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits.
The charming, panelled seating area was just perfect to sit on and enjoy your food at the farmhouse table. Perfectly laid with plates, cutlery and glasses. Keswick Holiday Homes really have gone that extra mile.

Branching off either side of the living area are two brilliant sized, double bedrooms with the most comfortable beds and bedding. The pastel colour scheme continues and both bedrooms boast bespoke headboards, bedside tables, elegant dressing tables with light sconces on the walls and wardrobes.
In the first bedroom’s ensuite you’re met with a rainfall shower over a bath. Above the sink there’s a modern touch-screen mirror that provides bluetooth connection and extra lighting. This well thought out space includes a utility area cleverly concealed behind ceiling to floor mirrored doors. This contains a washer/dryer and other useful items. The second, slightly smaller bedroom includes a fully tiled, ensuite shower room. There is a hair dryer too which I was pleased about as I hate having to bring my own.

Overall, this delightful dog-friendly apartment is the perfect place to enjoy a little bit of luxury while exploring the Lake District. We whole-heartedly recommend a stay here with your pooch!
TOP TIP…….

Access to the property is straight from the street and there is no secure garden. This for us did not matter. The village is really quiet and peaceful and if you leave the apartment and turn left you come to a bridge leading you over the river. There are grassy areas around here where you can let your dog have a roam around and do their business. There are bins too so please be a responsible dog owner.
If you stay at Brandelhowe you are allocated one car parking space just a few metres away in a private carpark. You can park outside the property to load and unload.
The area……
Portinscale is a very small, picturesque village. You’ll find The Farmers arms pub and The Chalet tearooms both dog-friendly. We enjoyed a delicious sausage and egg sandwich one morning before heading off for a stroll around the shores of Derwentwater.

Our stay was a gifted stay. All photography and opinions are my own.

Looks like a lovely place to stay to visit Keswick and the area.
