Keswick – Riverside View

“….the simple reason why we return so often is because it’s the perfect home from home! “

We have just got back from an amazing stay at the dog-friendly Riverside View Apartment in Keswick. This is our 4th visit to this apartment; the simple reason why we return so often is because it’s the perfect home from home!

Riverside view is let by Keswick Holiday Homes and is situated in Elliot Park, a quiet yet central part of Keswick. Pleasantly surrounded by the local fells, this immaculate complex of apartments is ideally situated close to the lake, shops and parks – another reason for us returning again and again.

You”ll find Riverside View on the ground floor, tucked away in the corner of the complex. You are allocated one private car parking space for the duration of your holiday. People may question how quiet a ground floor apartment would be but you wouldn’t believe how peaceful it is. We were never disturbed throughout our stay.

Once through the shared entrance, you enter the apartment and are greeted with a pleasing wooded floor corridor where all the rooms lead off. The perfect space to dry off the dogs if they’re a little dirty and you need to wipe them down.

This modern, refurbished apartment sleeps four, with one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. Both are excellent sizes with an adequate amount of storage including wardrobes and drawers. In the twin there is a handy dressing table and chair – perfect for our teenage daughter. The bathroom is modern and bright with a bath and shower; towels are provided.

You won’t find a better equipped kitchen than at Riverside View, with everything you could possibly need throughout your stay. An abundance of utensils, kettle, toaster, microwave, oven, fridge with small freezer and washing machine with tumble dryer (you are even provided with washing powder). If that’s not enough for you, there’s a dishwasher – again the tablets are provided for you! Let’s face it, at the end of the day, who wants to wash up while they’re on holiday?

There’s a convenient table for two in the kitchen if you fancied eating your breakfast there or head into the living room where there’s a table for four! We found the living room the perfect place to relax and play games or watch TV after a busy day exploring with Willow and Bobby.

A nice surprise…..

On our arrival we found a delicious tray of goodies for us humans, which included tea, coffee and biscuits.

Willow and Bobby received the sweetest gift hamper from Fell & Tarn Hampers The hamper was really well considered I thought, as it included things that would come in really handy. Like a natural soap bar for instance – not everyone remembers to bring dog shampoo and when in the Lake District, dogs can get very muddy. Willow and Bobby really enjoyed the natural treats and the toys of course. I also loved how eco friendly the hamper was. These touches make your dog friendly holiday really special.

Don’t you just love when the accommodation you’re staying at leave handy information for you? This saves you having to google info or visit tourist information centres. At Riverside View you’ll find lots of recommendations for local walks and places to visit. Plus a handy up-to-date Visit Keswick brochure.

The grounds of Elliot Park are extremely neat and well looked after. They are not secure however so you will need to keep your dogs on leads. We enjoyed watching the daily visit from a pheasant and there is plenty of grass for Willow and Bobby to have a sniff and go to the toilet. There is a bin for each property and a communal recycling station for all rubbish.

We thoroughly enjoy visiting Riverside View and booking with Keswick Holiday Homes is really easy and simple. We can’t wait to return! Along with Riverside Vew Keswick Holiday homes offer two other dog friendly accommodation – Withesike, DerwentHouse and Grizedale Close

Dog Friendly places to visit while you are there….

Hope Park Games and Cafe.

A favourite place for family fun and an ice-cream is Hope Park Games and Cafe. We love a round of Pitch and Putt! Yes the golf is in fact dog-friendly! Or enjoy a walk around the beautiful gardens. Take a seat and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee or a slice of delicious cake. Dogs are welcome inside the cafe and they even have some golf dining pods.

Hire a rowing boat on Derwentwater.

Just a 5 minute walk from Riverside View apartment is Derwentwater. We recommend visiting the magnificent lake even if it is just for a lovely walk with stunning views.

If you are feeling adventurous however visit Keswick Launch and hire a rowing boat. If your pooch is confident they’ll love a little ride for an hour like Willow and Bobby did. You can hire rowing boats for half an hour or the full hour. We paid ÂŁ18 at the time for an hour. Full instructions and life jackets are provided and it’s a great way to explore the Lake. Be prepared to use some muscle!

The Lakeroad Inn

We’re always trying new places to eat but we often find ourselves visiting The Lakeroad Inn for a bite to eat. Dog friendly inside and out, they offer great quality food at reasonable prices. The first time we enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch, and we have since visited and enjoyed their homemade burgers. On a nice day their spacious outdoor seating is really pleasant.
