In 2016, our family of three: myself (Lynn), my husband (Norman) and our teenage daughter (Ellie) expanded as we added our first springer spaniel puppy, Willow. Followed nearly a year later by Bobby a rescue sprocker from Spaniel Aid
We live by the sea on England’s Northeast coast and its perfect for two water loving spaniels. Both spaniels have so much character and have totally changed our lifestyle. Having two energetic spaniels has made us venture out more than ever. Our family lifestyle has changed from holidays abroad every year to dog friendly days out and staycations here in the UK. Follow our adventures and we will share with you all our favourite dog friendly places to visit in County Durham and beyond – with spaniels Willow and Bobby in tow.
How it all started.
I started documenting our adventures with the spaniels back in 2018 on Instagram. I felt it was a good place to share my photos. Then in 2019, on a whim, I entered a competition ran by the dog friendly holiday company CanineCottages
They were searching for dogs and humans to become Canine Critics for a year. I was amazed to find out we were chosen for our region, the North East, out of more than 50,000 applicants nationwide.

The role involved receiving dog products to test out and review along with a week cottage holiday of our choice accompanied by a full review. We spent an amazing week in Hawkshead, The Lake District at a very unique 17th century property called The Old Barn.

Being Canine Critics for Canine Cottages inspired me to share even more of our dog friendly adventures as a family. Finally I decided to start our very own blog website in September 2021 which I hope you enjoy browsing as much as I enjoy creating.
